What is laser skin resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing uses specific wavelengths of light energy to improve your skin’s texture and appearance. The team at Mez, Tan, & Sarante use the Icon laser by Cynosure, an industry leader in medical aesthetic laser technology.

Icon laser skin resurfacing is a noninvasive procedure that reduces signs of aging, like wrinkles and brown spots, with no downtime for recovery. This treatment also stimulates collagen production, which has a skin-tightening effect.

What does laser skin resurfacing treat?

The team at Mez, Tan, & Sarante uses Icon laser skin resurfacing to treat a wide range of cosmetic concerns on the face and body, including:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Spider veins
  • Birthmarks
  • Freckles
  • Stretch marks
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Sun damage
  • Acne and surgical scars

The Icon aesthetic platform offers a comprehensive array of services, including skin tightening, skin resurfacing, and hair removal. Your provider develops a customized plan to address your specific concerns.

How does laser skin resurfacing work?

The Icon laser works on all skin types. The light energy targets specific skin concerns, such as pigmented or fibrous tissue, and breaks them down without harming healthy cells. Additionally, the laser stimulates your natural healing response and promotes collagen production, which creates healthy, firm, and younger-looking skin.

What should I expect from laser skin resurfacing?

First, your provider at Mez, Tan, & Sarante carefully evaluates your skin and discusses your cosmetic concerns. Then, they develop a skin resurfacing plan tailored to your specific needs. Every patient is unique, but most require between three to four treatments spaced four to six weeks apart.

Laser skin resurfacing isn’t painful because the Icon handpiece has a specialized cooling tip. However, you may feel some minimal discomfort similar to a rubber band gently snapping against your skin. Your provider may apply cold packs to your skin immediately after the treatment.

After laser skin resurfacing, it’s common to experience some redness and swelling in the treatment area. This typically fades in a few hours or overnight and may improve with ice packs. Icon laser skin resurfacing doesn’t require downtime for recovery, but you should protect your skin from the sun.
